 Our School

Mahato Karate is the finest school in the area, and is the national home of the Mahato Karate Association. We are dedicated to making your Martial Arts experience enjoyable and satisfying. We have great instructors; they have studied and trained for years to qualify as part of the Mahato Karate Yudansha Team. All of our instructors have background checks, and are dedicated to the primary goal of assisting you in being the best you can be.

Our carefully structured programs go far beyond punching, blocking, and kicking. Our study of kata and aki-jutsu and Ju Jitsu will help you acquire effective self-defense skills and provide you with a comprehensive, personal development program. Our instructors will work with you to develop the skills that you seek to learn, and our wide ranging topics will ensure that you are working to perfect your art.

Although we honor Martial Arts traditions that go back centuries, we are dynamic and are constantly seeking new and innovative ways to excite our students. Shihan Graves is the creator of Small Samurai ,Karate Box and  Kobu Power, which takes ancient weapons training and incorporates cardio-strength  workout routines to provide a modern, effective exercise regiment. We apply our ancient techniques to modern applications to ensure our students are aware of the reality and  responsible use of their studies.

Students of The Mahato Karate Association have many options when deciding to train in martial art. Some want to improve their physical fitness and achieve weight-loss.Students, parents and individuals may seek to add discipline and self-control to their lives. Most all students are concerned about safety and self-defense and wish to achieve realistic obtainable goals.

 

 
Introductory Trial Program 
4 classes and a free uniform.
 
Beginner's Program
Two classes per week. Our Beginner's Program takes students through their Yellow Belt. This program requires only a 6-month commitment.
 
Mudansha Black Belt Club
Mudansha is comprised of students committed to the goal of achieving Black Belt. It is a 24-month program. After 3-6 months of standard instruction, a student should consider making the commitment to Black Belt and join Mudansha. Over 85 percent of Mahato’s Karate students who qualify are Mudansha members or Mudansha graduates.
To qualify for Black Belt Club, a student must have a Yellow or higher and his/her instructor’s approval.
What are the benefits of the Black Belt Club 
Mahato Karate is a Black Belt School. When students make the commitment to Black Belt, they are past the trial stage. They become part of our school, and they receive the following privileges:
  • Achieve Black Belt in as little as 4 years
  • Achieve 2nd degree Black Belt in as little as three additional years
  • Three classes per week
  • Sparring gear
  • Special Uniform 
  • Special bi-monthly workouts and seminars
  • No yearly tuition increases
  • Guest instructors
  • Weapons training
  • Exposure to other styles of martial arts
How do I join the Mudansha Black Belt Club?
Your first step is to write an essay explaining why you would like to become a Mudansha Member. Upon evaluation, your instructor will give you a recommendation.
 
 
 
Yudansha Program
The Yudansha Program is comprised of students who have decided to achieve a Black Belt in the shortest possible time frame. The Yudansha Program is a highly accelerated program, and our premier under-Black Belt membership.
To qualify, a student must be actively training and have his/her instructor's approval.
What are the benefits of the Yudansha program?
In addition to all of the benefits accorded a Mudansha Black Belt Club Member, Yudansha Members receive:
  • Achieve Black Belt status in as little as three-and-a-half years
  • Achieve 2nd Degree Black Belt in as little as two-and-three-quarters years
  • Achieve 3rd degree Black Belt in as little as three-and-three-quarters years
  • Unlimited weekly group classes
  • Special monthly Yudansha Training equivalent to 3-4 group classes
  • Special Yudansha uniform top
How do I join the Yudansha Club?

Yudansha Master's Club
The Master's Club is for Black Belts only. It is the premier group membership offered by the Mahato Karate Association. The Master's Club is comprised of committed martial artists who have achieved their goal of Black Belt and are committed to aggressively pursuing advanced training.
To qualify for Yudansha Master's Club, a student must have earned 1st Dan, be committed to pursuing advanced training and have his/her instructor's approval.

What are the benefits of the Yudansha Master's Club?
The Yudansha Master's Club provides members the opportunity to achieve a 2nd and 3rd Dan Black Belt in the shortest time possible. In addition to all the benefits of Yudansha membership, Yudansha Master's Club members receive:
  • Achieve 2nd Dan Black Belt in as little as 2 years
  • Achieve 3rd Dan Black Belt in as little as 3 additional years
  • Unlimited group classes
  • Eligible for all monthly VIP seminars
  • Special monthly, 2-hour Yudansha Master's Club seminar dedicated solely to Black Belt level training
  • Yudansha AND Master's Club seminars total up to six hours of semi-private training per month
  • Special Master Yudansha top and pants -Special Yudansha Master's Club patch

 

Whether you are interested in our programs for mental or physical well being, The Mahato Karate Association offers a number of Age & Ability Appropriate Programs that will fit your developmental needs and your busy schedule as well.At our dojo we also host various activities and events for everyone’s convenience and enjoyment. We offer demonstrations at many venues, and we have our Mahato in Motion, which gives our student's families and friends the opportunity to see student demonstrations and belt promotions in a fun, inviting environment. We also offer Birthday Parties filled with exciting Martial Arts Games and a Black Belt instructor ready to teach awesome techniques to all your birthday guests.
